Ronald “Ron” Herman, a loving husband, dedicated father, cherished grandfather, and dear brother, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2023 at the age of 80. He was reunited with his beloved wife, Mary Jane Ricchiazzi Herman, who preceded him in death in June 2022.
Ron is survived by his brother, David L. Herman, sister-in-law, Sandra Herman, and brothers-in-law Frank Ricchiazzi and Borden Moller. He is also survived by his devoted son, David M. Herman, and daughter-in-law, Kristin Herman, as well as his loving daughter, Jennifer Herman Rabung, and son-in-law, Adam Rabung. “Pa’s” memory lives on through his adored grandchildren, Henry Rabung, Lucy Rabung, and Eleanor Herman.
Ron’s life was a profound testament to his deep, unwavering love and steadfast dedication to his family. Known humorously for his "glass half empty" perspective, Ron had a unique sense of humor that was bound to leave a smile on your face for the rest of the day. He was a man of unwavering integrity and character, whose legacy will be lovingly cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Professionally, Ron made a mark as a systems analyst at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington DC for over 30 years. At the Board, Ron played a crucial role in shaping global financial systems, taking particular pride in his instrumental part in designing Italy's banking system—a system that still stands to this day.
On a personal level, Ron reveled in creating lasting memories with his grandchildren, cheering on the Buffalo Bills, savoring his daily Starbucks coffee, and indulging in his love for "putzing” around the house with on-demand removal of any wall knicks, warped decking, and lawn weeds.
Ron's enduring legacy will remain forever etched in the hearts of his beloved family and close friends. His dedication to his profession, combined with his immeasurable love for his family, has left an indelible mark of profound admiration in our memories. As we remember Ron, we find comfort in the knowledge that he is now at peace.
A viewing to celebrate Ron's life will be held at Woody Funeral Home in Mechanicsville, VA on November 10th from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. His final farewell service will take place at his resting place in Cheektowaga, NY, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery on November 17th at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider making a donation to a charity or cause that was close to Ron and Mary Jane’s heart, such as the Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation (https://netrf.org/)
Rest in peace, dad. Until we meet again.
