Born in Staten Island, New York, Vera dedicated her life to her art and painted through her eighties. She studied art for 60+ years while residing in both New Jersey and Vermont, where she had lived for most of her life before coming to Virginia. Over her lifetime, she created hundreds of paintings; still life’s, landscapes, portraits, and abstracts, using oils of bright colors mirroring the joy she felt as an artist. She painted all the years of raising her four children with Joseph Peter Fyfe, her beloved husband, who preceded her in death in 1998.
She leaves behind her four devoted children: Joseph D. Fyfe, of Manhattan, New York; Kathleen Keister, of Mechanicsville, Virginia; Mary Anne Fyfe Turner, of Southlake, Texas; and Heather A. Fyfe, of Mechanicsville, Virginia. And her grandchildren, Stephen Daniel Keister, of Bumpass, Virginia; Regan Kathleen Mudd, of Midlothian, Virginia; James Harrison Turner, of Silver Spring, Maryland; William Scott Turner, of Arlington, Texas; Robert Maxwell Turner, of Austin, Texas; as well as ten great grandchildren.
A memorial service and celebration are planned for early September.
