PRYOR, Virginia Eggleston, 95, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018, in Mechanicsville, Va. Virginia was born in Washington, D.C., to parents, Francis H. and Vivian Swink Walters, who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Francis, Norman and Ronald. Virginia was the wife of Cary L. Eggleston Jr., who passed away in 1988 and William H. Pryor, who passed away in 2015. She is survived by her five children, Linda E. Hubard of Richmond, Stephen L. Eggleston of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, John C. Eggleston of Cedar Grove, N.J., Frances E. Horna Huntersville, N.C. and Susan Collins of St. Paul. Minn.; and 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Virginia grew up in Washington, D.C. until the age of 10, then moved to Richmond, where she graduated from John Marshall High School. She attended Madison College in Harrisonburg, Va., and lived briefly in Baltimore, Md. after WWII, before returning to the Richmond area in the 1950s, where she remained until her death. Virginia was a teacher of fifth to seventh graders for 18 years at Hanover Academy in Ashland, Va., and active with the Girl Scouts chairing the cookie sales. Always an avid art history and art work enthusiast, she would show her artwork at Covenant Woods. For many years she was a reader for blind listeners for The Voice of Virginia. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 3, at Woody Funeral Home-Atlee Chapel, 9271 Shady Grove Road, Mechanicsville, Va. 23116.
