Yarmila Popek Michalek

MICHALEK, Yarmila Popek, 89, of Mechanicsville, went to be with the Lord suddenly on March 17, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest E. Michalek. She is survived by her daughters, Terri M. Edwards and her husband, Raymond S., and Carolyn R. Michalek; grandchildren, R. Graham Edwards USCG, stationed in Ketchikan, Alaska, and his wife Erin, and Victoria E. L. Edwards; sisters, Rose P. Basl, Carolyn P. Nagy and Anne P. Steele; brother, James L. Popek and his wife, Mary Lou; nieces, nephews and other relatives in the Popek, Michalek and Cerny families; and a host of friends.

Yarmila was a lifelong resident of Hanover County. She volunteered at Memorial Regional for over 15 years, she was a master gardener, a member of PWP and attended Cool Spring Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 21, 2010, at the Atlee Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, Route 301 and Shady Grove Road. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 22, 2010, at Cool Spring Baptist Church, 9283 Atlee Station Road, Mechanicsville. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
