Sad to hear of Allan's passing only now
A good man and cuz

I just found out about Alan's death as we were assembling our Christmas greeting cards.  Alan was a friend and mentor to me at his last startup, DIVA Systems Corporation.  An early employee, I found myself without a secretary.  Alan patiently taught me not to be afraid of my new laptop, how to use WORD and EXCEL, and in the process I discovered a wonderful (and sometimes wild) human being.  I met Candy.  Alan and I would sometimes sneak out of the "quonset huts" where we worked to join Candy for a quick lunch,  a welcome break from the intensity of a Silicon Valley startup.  Alan and Candy attended my wedding in 2006, and we visited them in Medford after they'd decamped to Oregon.  I miss him.  He was a man with firm standards, but with an endearing sense of humor, often at his own expense.  CPAs and lawyers often share a bond, but ours was particularly deep.  His inspiration and friendship will remain with me forever.

Just found out about Alan.  Have been trying to contact him for a long time.  Alan was a lovely man, very intelligent, easy to get on with, and a great golfer.  His family history is a masterpiece.  Will be sadly missed.

I shall always remember Alan's good humour, and perpetual smile. We both were members of the Class of '74 at HBS and both worked at "The Firm" after graduating. Rest In Peace, Dear Alan!
