Arnold Ray Arens, 91, passed away September 11, 2018 at RVMC in Medford, Oregon with his 3 daughters and one granddaughter at his side. Arnold was born September 22, 1927 to Frederick William Arens and Hazel May Arens in their home in Eagle Point.
He graduated from high school in 1945 and served in the army from 1945-1947 in Germany. After returning home he fell in love with Betty Clark and they were married for the next 70 years until she passed away in 2017. Arnold and Betty built their home together in 1952 and enjoyed many fun adventures through the years with their daughters, including drive-in movies, fishing, playing board games, camping, and hiking.
One of Arnold's greatest passions in his life was spending time outdoors and gardening. For most of his life he would grow a large fruit and vegetable garden. He especially loved growing flowers including 2 of his favorites, zinnias and sunflowers. That passion was shared and continues on with his daughters.
Another passion was stamp collecting. He began collecting as a young boy and continued until his death. He encouraged his daughters to share his love of stamps beginning when they were very young which they still enjoy.
Finally, watching major league baseball, college basketball and football games especially the Oregon State Beavers was a pastime that he enjoyed immensely.
The never ending love that he had for his family will never be forgotten and all the memories will stay in our hearts forever. He is survived by his daughters, Karen E. Pool (Jack), Terry E. Wright, and Rebecca L. Dumas (Matt); 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; daughters, Susan Arens (infant), and Nancy E. Carney; brother, Melvin C. Arens; and son-in-law, Lea Wright.
The family would like to give thanks to all the staff at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center including the CCU and IMCU units and Pallative Care for the gentle and thoughtful care our father received.
