Bambi Ruthanne (Baird) Powers lost her second battle with cancer and passed peacefully on November 25, 2015 at a family home. She was the second child to Norma Jean and Dan Baird born in Aurora, Colorado. She had just celebrated the big 60 in August and enjoyed it with family. Bambi graduated from Medford Senior High in 1973 and attended college at SOC (now SOU). She remained in Medford and met her husband of 26 years, David, at a place called The Sandpiper. They were married February 25, 1989 and stayed in Medford to raise their two children. Bambi was a very multi-faceted woman, and was very involved in the local community. She spent almost 30 years working as a professional at The Job Council, developing programs to help unemployed and displaced workers. Bambi also participated in Soroptimist for over 20 years, serving as president a few times. She also worked at the Central Point Senior Center, making lots of seniors feel welcomed while filling their tummies with peach pie. After retiring from The Job Council, she enjoyed being self-employed as a real estate agent and helping her clients find homes. Bambi was an active participant in the Susan Komen walks and was supported by her group of friends, self-deemed the “Honored-Ones,” who have all been together for roughly 40 years, since playing softball together in the 70s as the “Medford Muggers.” Bambi also had fun making her own jelly during the holidays and selling it at Bazaars as JellyGirls. She also had her own infamous “Bambi-Woo” eggroll recipe that everyone enjoyed. Bambi is survived by her loving husband, David, her brother, Jeff (Suzi) Baird, her two kids, Holly (Travis) Kyle and Jack, and her granddaughter, Ember Kyle. She will be remembered by everyone who knew her, as a one of a kind gem. She was always kind, generous, loving and a problem solver. Her inner light shined on those she touched, and her smile was infectious. Bambi, Mom, we are so thankful to have so many wonderful memories with you. We could never have asked for a better Mom, friend or wife. We know you are in a better place and watching over us. We love you so much and you will always, always be with us and everyone you touched. A celebration of life will be held sometime in June 2016.
