March 29, 1933 to August 15, 2024
A fourth-generation descendant of Oregon pioneers that traveled across the Oregon trail and homesteaded in eastern Oregon, before Oregon became a state in 1859.
Buelah was born in Clatskanie, Oregon; which is located between Astoria and Portland. She was the oldest of three siblings, all born within in four years of each other, Harold (deceased), Donald and Helen. She grew up in a very small community called Delena, Oregon and it was at the Delena elementary school she met her future husband Elvin in 8th grade. They continued on to Rainer High School and both graduated in 1951. Buelah then attended Lower Columbia Business School across the river in Longview, Washington.
Elvin and Buelah were married in 1953 and bought their first little farm in Delena. There they raised a few cows, chickens, many cats and had a strawberry farm.
Elvin and Buelah were blessed with four children, Nadine (Nicki) (Logan) Bell, Keith (Kathy) Carpenter, Linda (Allan) Bartlett and Jim Carpenter (Sharon Pickering).
When her children were growing, she was a true "super mom" who sewed all the girls’ school dresses and even made Elvin a colorful sports jackets! She was the mom who was always the 4-H leader, directed Vacation Bible School and was scorekeeper at Little League and Babe Ruth games her boys were involved in. She had a green thumb and loved gardening, especially her rose garden in later years.
After moving to Medford in 1968 she continued her involvement in her children’s lives along with briefly working at Harry and David. She was the personal assistant to Elvin’s insurance business since its very beginning and would often travel with him to various places in their motorhome. In 1977 she became the church bookkeeper for Harvest Baptist Temple and continued that for over 15 years.
Buelah especially loved her nine grandkids and 13 great grandkids and having them help her in the yard. She also enjoyed spending time at the family cabin at Copco Lake.
After a long journey of raising and guiding her family, she has now moved on to heaven to be with her beloved Elvin, daughter Linda, son-in-law Allan and grandson Zachary.
Proverbs 31: 27, 28
She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
