In his youth, Cecil was very active in scouting in both Sea Scouts and Scouting America (formerly Boy Scouts of America) in which he earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Cecil received an award due to the meritorious act of helping to save a young man's life in December of 1982. The young man Craig had fallen into a cavern while they were on a scouting trip at Dodge Ridge Ski Bowl and Cecil helped to save him.
Cecil worked almost 20 years as an automobile technician, before changing his career to service and hospitality. Cecil took pride in being helpful to others.
An avid car enthusiast, Cecil enjoyed fixing up less common, yet powerful cars and spent time in a car club for his Dodge SRT4. Cecil was also an avid reader and gamer, as a true Sci-Fi proud geek. As a lover of techno and high energy music, Cecil enjoyed dancing and joining his children in family dance parties.
