David Arthur Ferguson, 85, a long-time resident of Fort Wayne, Ind., died peacefully on March 25, 2017, in his Medford, Ore., home. Dr. Ferguson was preceded in death by Patricia Thomas Ferguson, his wife of 60 years. He was a dentist and oral surgeon in Fort Wayne, Ind., before retiring in 1998 and moving to Medford. He attended St. Jude Catholic School, Central Catholic High School (1949), Indiana University and the Indiana University School of Dentistry (1956), and served a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Mayo Clinic (1970) in Rochester, Minn. Dr. Ferguson served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy for four years in California, Hawaii and Texas. He enjoyed gardening and landscaping his home, and was an ardent supporter of the Boston Red Sox and Notre Dame football. Born in 1931 in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Vernon and Marcella (Oddou) Ferguson. He is survived by his brother Stanley (Anne) of Angola, Ind.; daughter, Sarah (Richard) of Portland, Ore.; sons, Mark (Marcia) of Houston, Texas, and Jon of Eugene, Ore., and five grandchildren.
