Donald Gene Adams, age 87, of Eagle Point, Oregon, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 8, 2024. Don was born on January 16, 1937 in Kansas City, Missouri to Maxine and Jack Adams. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers James and Stacy Adams and is survived by his sister Barbara Bass and brother Steve Adams, Don's wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Don married the love of his life Connie Marie Reynolds, on January 24, 1958 in Kendrickstown, Missouri. Together they had three children, Terri Adams-Morgan, Tim Adams, and Randy Adams who all reside in Southern Oregon. He had six grandchildren, Kenneth (Billie Jo) Murray of Arizona, Brooke (Patrick) Percy, Kassandra (Monty) Brown, Desiree (Brian) Floyd, and Jacoby and Jaeda Adams of Oregon. His nine great-grandchildren are; Ash & Morgan Murray of Oregon, Adrianna & Melody Murray of Arizona. Tannen Percy, Kailia & Hughton Brown, and Forrest & Eden Floyd all of Oregon.
He served in the United States Army from 1955-1964 and was stationed in France and Germany and was honorably discharged at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. During his time in the Army he spent time writing for the Stars and Stripes Newspaper, building schools in France, and learning how to play the steel guitar which he became well known for by everyone he knew. After leaving the Army in 1964 Don and Connie moved to Oregon where he worked as a skilled handyman repairing appliances, televisions and stereos. He coached little league when his boys were younger and he was a volunteer FireFighter for Eagle Point Volunteer Fire Department in the late 70s and early 80s. He even baked and delivered pies for Wild Plum Bakery. Don had a passion for music and was in several bands, The Playboys (Germany), The Cascade Wranglers (Oregon) and Back in Time (Oregon). He loved playing his steel guitar and the piano for his family and friends. He was proud of his impressive Elvis collection and had to show everyone he met. His wife Connie and family was what he treasured the most.
A Celebration of life is scheduled for 3:00 pm on May 24, 2024, at the Eagle Point National Cemetery, 2763 Riley Road, Eagle Point, Oregon, with a reception to follow at the Ashpole Center, 17 S Buchanan Ave, Eagle Point, Oregon. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Don’s life.
