Eliza Jane Tourville passed away at home in Sams Valley on May 17, 2019. She was born at home near Canyonville to Cecil A. and Ruth (nee Buxton) Wolfer on September 1, 1933. She married Charles William Tourville in Selma, Oregon on November 10, 1951. Their six children survive. Linda and Mike Davis, Sams Valley. Lance and Pam Tourville, Estacada, Lorna Durbin, Manhattan, Kansas, Casey and Peggy Tourville, Talent, Terri and Maurice Helmer, Angwin, CA and Scott and Claris Tourville, Cobb, CA. Eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Her sisters Hannah Volkman and Fran (Chuck) Gitchel, Renton, WA, Ethel Deatherage, Cottage Grove, Charlena Gale, Corvallis, and brother Cecil Wolfer, Canyonville. Sister in law Bonnie Newsom, Grants Pass, Sister in law, Carol Tourville, Stockton, CA and brother in law, Quinton Todd, Riddle, and lots of nephews and nieces, survive as well.
Jane had worked for a number of years as an LPN. She did cake decorating and sewing for family. Jane and her husband, Bill were baptized in Canyonville into the SDA church in 1958. She served as a Cradle Roll leader and deaconess and helped in Pathfinders and ACS at Valley View SDA church. She was known for her good soups and home cooking and often took a meal to someone who was ill or had suffered a loss of a loved one. In later years she enjoyed the Young at Heart club with the Medford, Valley View SDA church and music concerts at Pacific Union College.
Canyonville and Medford, Oregon were home to her, but she had lived in Pacheco, Martinez, Antioch and Angwin, California at various times.
Jane will be interred with her husband Bill at the Eagle Point National Cemetery. A short committal service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 14 in the Committal Shelter, then proceed to grave site. A memorial will be held at 11 a. m. Sunday, July 14 at Stanton Park in Canyonville, Oregon in conjunction with a family reunion.
