Eugene Perry was born in Cherokee, Iowa in 1951. His career as K-12 Director of Bands lasted 30 years and he taught in Iowa, South Dakota, and Oregon. Gene loved his family, outdoor adventures, and music of many genres. He had a wonderful and clever sense of humor and was generous to a fault. During the last part of his life, Gene grew especially close to his family and found true meaning in those relationships. He also developed a sweet friendship with his former wife, Jeana Graham, who is the mother of his two daughters. It was a precious and cherished time for the whole family. His dog, Libby, and daughter’s dog, Penny, were a great comfort to him. Gene demonstrated love, cheerfulness, and fortitude even when his circumstances were anything but easy. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Gene’s surviving relatives include his two daughters, Rita Perry, who lives in Eugene, OR and Lisa Perry, who lives in Medford, OR. Hugh Perry, Gene’s brother, resides in Storm Lake, Iowa, and his sister, Martha Perry, in Cadiz, Spain. A memorial service will be held in December.
