Gordon Lee Wolfe

Gordon Lee Wolfe, 89, passed into the arms of his Savior January 17th, 2026. He was born in Sullivan Indiana on September 29th, 1936 where he attended elementary and high school. He was active in sports and Glee Club. He also worked part-time in his father’s auto repair shop and Western Auto. He often fixed up older cars, a passion that later grew into his collecting classic 1960s era Fords.​

After Graduating high school in 1950, he attended Rose Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, IN.. He graduated in 1954 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was also active in R.O.T.C., where he earned a pilot’s license as well as being commissioned 2nd lieutenant in the United States Army. In 1958 he married Mary Nell Miller and was employed by Lockheed in Sunnyvale, CA, working on ballistic missiles used in submarines, electronic eavesdropping and space satellites. They purchased a home in Fremont, CA. and began investing in rental properties.​

In 1980 Gordon moved to Sonora, CA. and married Gayle Blair. In 1991 they bought 72 acres of forested land in the Southern Cascades near Ashland, Oregon. He was always physically active and loved walking and jogging the mountain trails as well as e-biking to nearby Hyatt Lake. He was often seen cleaning-up trash along Hwy 66 from travelers, but also aiding them with extra gas, flat tires, and extricating them from snow berms.​

He is predeceased by his parents, Cecil and Coza Wolfe, his brother Howard and Mary Nell Miller. He is survived by his wife Gayle, daughter Karin (Jeff) Massoglia, son Gregory Wolfe Sr., as well as grandchildren Bryan, Kelsey, and Karley Massoglia, Morgan Berticevich and Gregory Wolfe Jr., 2 great grandsons, and step-daughters Teresa Borunda and Lisa Ghelardi.​

Quiet and introverted, he was known by those close to him for his sharp wit and dry sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of Gordon’s life will be held at 1:00 on May 24th amidst the serene beauty of the Cascades he loved.​
