Born on November 23, 1932, in Springfield, Idaho, Grace grew up on a farm in a log cabin lovingly built by her father, grandfather, and uncles.
Grace’s life was defined by her unselfish love, boundless support, and devotion to her family. After attending business school in Salt Lake City, Utah, she pursued a successful career as an executive secretary. On November 26, 1961, she married the love of her life, William Dye, in San Jose, California. Together, they built a beautiful life in Saratoga, California, raising their blended family with warmth, care, and unwavering dedication.
Grace and Bill’s family included their children, Julie Gibson and Christopher Dye, along with Bill's sons, Jim, Bert, and Fred Dye. Grace’s love for her family was limitless, and she made it her mission to support and care for them with selflessness and grace. She cherished every moment with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, celebrating their achievements and providing steadfast encouragement.
Later in life, Grace and Bill returned to Springfield, Idaho, and eventually settled in Medford, Oregon, in 1990. A lifelong learner, Grace earned her degree in art at the age of 50, fulfilling a personal dream. Her extraordinary talent as a watercolor artist earned her numerous awards, and her work was showcased in galleries throughout the region. As a founding member of the Art and Soul Gallery in Ashland, Oregon, Grace was deeply involved in the local art community and actively participated in organizations such as the Rogue Valley Gallery, Oregon Watercolor Society, Valley Girls Critique, Artists Workshop, and Kim's Cottage Group.
Grace’s faith was central to her life. She loved Jesus deeply and served her church communities in California and Oregon with joy and dedication, most recently as a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She volunteered tirelessly, giving her time and energy to schools, community organizations, and charitable causes, embodying a spirit of service and compassion.
Grace also found comfort and companionship in her beloved Yorkie, Rocky, who brought her joy for many years.
She is survived by her children, Julie Gibson, Christopher Dye (wife Kristi), Jim Dye, Bert Dye, and Fred Dye; her grandchildren, Andy Gibson (wife Augusta), Kaylee Gibson, Matthew Gibson, Kelsey Arroyo (husband Steve), Matt Marley (wife Julia), and Rose Dye; and her great-grandchildren, Lily Arroyo, Ben Arroyo, Brooks Gibson, and Jack Gibson. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill; her parents, Raymond and Julia Ruff; her sister, Vivian Freeman; and her brother, Raymond Ruff.
Grace will be remembered as a kind, talented, and spiritual woman who dedicated her life to her family, her faith, and her community. Her legacy of love, compassion, and creativity lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.
