

John Darrell Leavens, 66, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at his home. He was born April 19, 1950 in Medford, Oregon the son of the late Darrell D. and Helen (Grenbemer) Leavens. John attended St. Mary's High Schol in Medford and graduated from Southern Oregon College in 1976 with a degree in business. For over 35 years John participated in two unique southern Oregon institutions; he sang bass in the Rogue Valley Chorale and volunteered at the annual Pear Blossom Parade Run as part of the "Finish Line Mafia." He was an avid fan of the Oregon State Beavers and the San Francisco Giants. He also had a great passion and love for all things Disney. John's hobbies included playing golf; singing and listening to music; reading; and most important, spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Debby; daughter, Molly (Marlon) Taylor of Medford; son, Tom of Medford; stepson, Josh (Awbrey) Moore of Temple, Texas; grandchildren, Abigail and Zachary Taylor, Owen and Chloe Leavens, and Austin and Travis Moore; siblings, Mary Carol (Tom) Day, Bill (Eileen) Leavens, and Jim (MT Dimick) Leavens; sister-in-law, Cindy Leavens; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bob. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2017 at the Rogue Valley Country Club.
