
As a child, John’s family relocated to Talent, Oregon, where he attended Phoenix High School. In August 1979, he met Jonel after her family moved from Medford to Talent. Their relationship quickly blossomed, and they were married on July 18, 1980, in a ceremony at Crater Lake National Park.
John enlisted in the United States Army in March 1980. Shortly after their wedding, he departed for Vicenza, Italy, on August 1, 1980, where he proudly served with the 1st Battalion, 509th Airborne Combat Team. During his military service, he attained the rank of Specialist Four (SP4). John and Jonel made their home in Italy until August 1983. His years in the Army remained among his fondest memories, and he carried great pride in his military service throughout his life.
John was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Clifford Todd, and his mother, Sharon Todd.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jonel Todd; his daughters, Brittiany Johnson and her husband, Cardiff Johnson, and Nicole Todd; and his grandson, Jack Todd.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Medford Neighborhood Church, 1819 Stewart Avenue, Medford, OR 97501.
