Karen Eileen Milano, born May 31, 1962, in Petersburg, Virginia, was raised in Colonial Heights, Virginia, and later in life made her home in Oregon. She passed away suddenly on May 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, resilience, and deep connection with those fortunate enough to know her. Her passing is a profound loss to her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
Karen’s love for her family ran deep. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas John Milano, Sr. and Leta Eileen Milano, as well as her brother, Neil Anthony Milano. Though she mourned their loss, she carried their memory with her always, honoring them through her resilience and devotion to those she loved.
She is survived by her brothers, Christopher C. Milano and Nicholas John Milano, Jr., who will remember her as a caring sister with a vibrant spirit. She also leaves behind her beloved nieces, Leta Hailey Johnson (Jamie) and Rachel Diane Milano (Cameron Mueller), along with cherished great-nieces and nephews.
Karen is deeply mourned by her close friends, Renee Kinman and Mary Beth Andrews, whose bond with her was one of loyalty, understanding, and cherished memories. She is further survived by a large circle of cousins and countless friends who will forever hold onto the laughter, kindness, honesty, and authenticity she brought into their lives.
Karen was known for her quick wit, sharp sense of humor, and candid nature. She was often blunt and to the point—sometimes to a fault—but always honest and true to herself. She had a remarkable ability to bring light into any room she entered. With a perfectly timed remark or playful perspective, she could turn even difficult moments into something more bearable.
Beneath her humor was great strength. Karen was a survivor who faced many of life’s obstacles with courage, determination, and grace. She never allowed hardship to define her; instead, she met challenges head-on and emerged stronger, inspiring those around her.
Karen also found joy in life’s comforts and creative outlets. She loved to cook, sharing meals that brought people together and reflected her warmth and generosity. She loved music, especially the Grateful Dead, finding joy, comfort, and connection through their songs. In her younger years, she was a dedicated dancer and gymnast, channeling her energy aith both talent and enthusiasm—qualities that remained a part of her spirit throughout her life.
Karen’s friendships were a testament to who she was—loyal, compassionate, and genuine. She had a way of making people feel seen and valued, offering encouragement when it was needed most and celebrating life’s joys with enthusiasm. Her presence created connections that will endure long beyond her passing.
Though gone too soon, Karen’s spirit lives on in the memories she created, the lives she uplifted, and the strength she showed in the face of adversity. She will be remembered not only for her humor and resilience, but for her candor, the love she freely gave, and the lasting mark she left on the hearts of many.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
