

Ken was born on August 10, 1937 to Frank R. and Evelyn (Rhatigan) Marek in Anamosa, Iowa. The youngest son of three, he joined his brothers Donald D. and Robert D. Marek to complete the family.
Ken grew up in Marion, Iowa and was a proud member of the Marion High Class of 1955 “Best Class Alive”. He remained in contact with his high school classmates until his death. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Air Force, completing his active duty service in 1959.
He was united in marriage with Callie Rose Brainard on February 27, 1960 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Ken and Callie were blessed with two children; son, Steven and daughter, Michele.
Ken had an outgoing personality and made many friends all over the United States whom he cherished. Ken was a Life Member of the NRA, a certified Hunter Safety Instructor, a Coach and Manager for Torrance American Little League as well as serving as an usher for St. Lawrence Martyr Church in Redondo Beach. During his engineering career, he worked for many major companies including Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, General Mills, GE, NCR, and Mattel Toys. He retired from Xerox Corporation, El Segundo, CA in 1994.
Ken and Callie relocated to Southern Oregon from Southern California in 1994. Ken kept active during retirement by volunteering with the Grants Pass Sheriff’s Department and at the Grants Pass Airport. After moving to Medford in 2000, he volunteered with Jackson County Search and Rescue, the VA Military Museum, SMART Reading, and with Code Enforcement for the City of Medford.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Don. He is survived by his wife, Callie, his brother, Bob, his son, Steve, daughter-in-law, Jill, and his daughter, Michele, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ken will be laid to rest at the Eagle Point National Cemetery.
