Marvin Lee (Jack) Thornbrue passed away on December 11, 2018, at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford, Oregon. Born in Douglas County, Oregon, on September 30, 1954, to Daniel LeRoy Thornbrue and Theanna Marie Hayes.
Preceding him in death were his parents, stepfather Melvin Farber, brothers Rink, Johnny Mock.
Surviving are Debra L. Waldrep Thornbrue, his wife; brothers Jimmy Mock (Roxinne) of Grants Pass, OR, Guy Thornbrue of Galveston, TX; son David (Marci) of Idaho, daughter Jacqueline Quiroz, granddaughter Zaleigh Mae Quiroz, and many friends, both young and old.
As soon as he graduated from Phoenix High School, Marvin joined the U. S. Navy and served in Vietnam. Returning to the U.S., he earned an Associate Degree from Rogue Community College in Grant’s Pass. He--and his wife Debra--drove for various trucking companies, seeing many new places. He worked for Hessel Machinery, Pape’s, Johnny Cat and, most recently, Knife River as a heavy equipment mechanic.
Many thanks to the Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center nurses and aides on the ICU and oncology floors who so tenderly cared for him in his last days.
Special thanks to Forrest and Anna Seeley for the many hours of sitting at the hospital with Jack and Debra and being willing to run all kinds of errands--whatever was needed. And, special thanks to Theresa Gallilo, Zach and Trisha Smith for babysitting Zaleigh, for sitting with Jack and Debra, for cleaning and helping Debra to move. You guys are the best!
