
Michael Wayne Henson, age 74, passed away August 24, 2026 at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford, Oregon after a long battle with cancer. Mike passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends.
He was born April 8, 1952, in Paso Robles, California, a son of the late Joseph Henson and Blanche Surratt.
Mike served his country in the United States Army and was very proud of being on a brigadier general’s staff while stationed in Korea.
His major career accomplishments were working at various oil companies beginning as a roughneck working on oil rigs in San Ardo, CA. From there he advanced to become a key logistics manager with numerous overseas assignments including Indonesia, Nigeria, and Angola.
He was an avid sportsman who loved hunting and fishing in California, Colorado and Oregon. His greatest passion was cooking for family gatherings and spending time with friends and family.
Mike was a very generous person and went out of his way to help those in need. He touched many lives with his wisdom, humor and an unwavering spirit of perseverance and grit. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion that lives on in all who knew him.
He is survived by his three brothers, Bob, David, and Eugene and their families, including nephews, nieces, and grandnephews. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
He wished to be interred in the Los Angeles National Cemetery with an honor guard ceremony. Dates for this will be determined later.
