Michael Sam Murray

February 19, 1947 ~ October 23, 2019

Following a lengthy illness, Michael Sam Murray, 72, peacefully passed away in his home in Eagle Point, Oregon. Mike was born February 19, 1947 in Oakland, California to Alva and Beatrice Murray. He grew up in Northern California and graduated from Biggs High School in 1965.

Mike served in the US Army (1967-1969) and was wounded in Vietnam.

Mike chose law enforcement as his career path and served for 21 years in different capacities; Deputy Sheriff, Corvallis, Oregon, Nevada Highway Patrol, and University Police, CSU, Chico, Chico, California.

An avid sportsman, Mike guided for hunting and fishing in the South Chico area for ten years (1980-1990).

He is survived by his wife Suzette, to whom he was married for 29 years; daughter Michelle Godfrey of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, son Michael Murray Jr., of Oroville, California, daughter Gina (Billy) Crist of Temecula, California, son Brent Hassell of Kennewick, Washington, daughter Erin Hassell of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Mike was a kind, loving man with a great sense of humor. His presence will be deeply missed in our lives.

A private service for family and friends will be held at a later date.
