Roger Ammon McGuire Jr. died at his home in Eagle Point, Oregon on Friday, April 24, 2015 from cancer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Ammon McGuire and his mother, Marjorie Louise McDonald. He is survived by his two daughters, Michelle Jones of Susanville, CA and Carolyn McGrew of Eagle Point, OR (both formerly McGuire), and his grandchildren, Cameron Jones, Katie Jones, Courtney Jones of Susanville, CA and Jordan Shepard-McGuire of Medford, OR amongst other relatives.
Roger graduated from Anchorage High School and then entered the Army when he was 24 and was later honourably discharged . Roger spent a good part of his life mining for gold, gems and other precious minerals, which he really enjoyed.
His hobbies included metal detecting, fishing, hunting, working and making things with wood, building and repairing boats and just being outdoors in the quietness and beauty of nature. When he was no longer physically able to do what he wanted to do, he loved to go online to his many Facebook friends and play his Farm and Train games.
Roger was a well-known jack-of-all-trades and could figure out how to repair or build pretty much anything and if he couldn't, give him a day or two and he would come up with a solution.
The family would like to thank Providence Hospice of Medford, Oregon for all of their love and support along with thanking Southern Oregon Medical Supply for their quality and expedient services.
A celebration of life will be held at his home on Saturday, May 9, 2015. Roger will be sorely missed by his family and friends alike.
