

Marriage and Family: Shirley's first marriage was to Martin Gilchrist of Medford and they had 2 sons: Michael Gilchrist (sp. Nadja Grizzo) and Joseph Gilchrist (sp. Heather Gilchrist). Shirley then found her best friend for life and married Lawrence Grimes of Medford and had 1 daughter: Jessica Grimes-Friason (sp. Geoffrey Friason). Shirley has 4 grandchildren: Joseph Brennan Gilchrist, Taran Gabriel Gilchrist, Calvin Isaac Friason, and Cameron Dell Friason.
Shirley is survived by her sisters Marcia Gray and Anne Myrick and her brother Bruce Weixel. Shirley was passionate about researching genealogy and has generations of information available at ancestry.com.
Life and History: Shirley's parents were Edward Lyle Isaacs and Phyllis Angeline Hagebusch. Shirley attended Oregon State University for one year in 1968 and studied Home Economics with focus on sewing, tailoring and design which helped develop her natural talent. Shirley worked at a variety of businesses in the Rogue Valley: clerk at a fabric store, Activities Director at Jackson County Nursing Home, various roles in the banking world from teller-relief to Secretary to Auditor. She was also Admin Assistant and Historian at the First United Methodist Church (FUMC) of Medford, Administrative work with Allied Building Products and her final job was Assistant to the Owner/Manager of Medford Sports Injury in which she fully retired in February 2016.
Hobbies/Interests: The clarinet was her favorite instrument. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, painting, crafting, camping, listening to music, and attending Musicals.
Volunteer involvement: Bookkeeping for Youth Girls basketball with "Herricanes," Project Misdemeanant as a Volunteer Probation Officer, Relay for Life and Survivor Committee, Handbell choirs as a ringer and also as a Director for Children's Choir, FUMC Church Youth Groups, Cub Scout Leader, Band Parent for North Medford High School.
Shirley's celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 30th at 3:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Medford, Oregon.
