Walter Leptien, at 89 years, made his heavenly ascent on March 17th 2018 from his home with family by his side. He was born February 5, 1929, the youngest of 3, to German immigrants, Karl Leptien and Martha Lensfeldt. He pitched for the Cardinals in minor league baseball from 1948-1950. From Jan. 1951- Oct. 1952 he served in Korea, ranking M/SGT and earning a purple heart. Years following, Walt worked in retail management, managing the Cala Foods grocery store in Fairfax, California. He married Roberta Burke Hubbard in July of 1970, who has preceded him in death. (7-9-2017) They moved to Medford, Oregon in 1982, and while not ready to completely retire, he worked for the North Fred Meyers until his retirement. They lived a full life with children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous beloved pets.
Walt will have a Military service with honors on Wednesday March 28, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Eagle Point National Cemetery; 2763 Riley Road, Eagle Point, Oregon.
