William worked for the South Pacific Railroad, where he served as a Conductor and later retired after years marked by reliability and hard work.
An adventurous spirit drew William again and again to the outdoors. He loved hunting, horses, dogs, cold beer, and the great outdoors, finding simple joy in the things that felt honest and enduring. His favorite place was Teddy Powers Meadow on the Sycan River, a setting that suited him—quiet, wide, and true.
William was preceded in death by his parents, William L Garriott Sr. and Allison Garriott Barnes, his sister Averil Anderson, brother-in-law George Burrell, and by his wives, Nancee Garriott, Judy Garriott, and Helen Garriott.
He is survived by his sons, William L Garriott III and Michael J Garriott (spouse Mary); three grandchildren, William L Garriott IV (Breanne Shults), Wesley D Garriott, and Loudin Garriott; and two great-grandchildren, Addison Garriott and William Garriott V. He is also survived by stepchildren from his second marriage, Mike and Michelle, and stepchildren from his third marriage, Jeff (Shelli), David, Kyle, and Angele.
William will be remembered with respect for the life he built through work, perseverance, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors he loved.
