Jessie I. Hewitt

Born on August 21, 1926 in Medina, NY, she was the daughter of the late Louie and Anna (Greene) Carpenter.

Jessie was the wife of the late Alex G. “Lefty” Hewitt Jr. for over 50 years. She was employed with the former Apple Grove Inn for over 30 years. She was a member of the Faith Bible Baptist Church, where she was a active member in many committees, visitations and church socials. She especially enjoyed children and her nursery duties each week, she could comfort babies like no other. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles and spending time with her friends, going out for coffee, lunches and traveling throughout Western New York to enjoy sites and seasonal activities.

She is survived by her children, Darlene (Brian) Janas of Middleport; Thomas (Cindy) Hewitt and Daniel Hewitt, all of Medina; Kelly (Sam) Klein Brennan of Sacramento, CA; a sister, Betty Williams of Waterport; a large extended family of 10 grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins; dear friends, Iris Parlier of Middleport, Jerri Brace of Medina, and Shirley Bentley of Shelby Center.

She is predeceased by a daughter, Bonnie Kujawa; siblings, Edna Carpenter, Norman Carpenter, Edith Smith and Elwin Carpenter.

Relative and friends may call on Thursday, January 7, 2016 from 6-8 PM at the Faith Bible Baptist Church, 3064 N. Gravel Rd. Medina, NY 14103, where a funeral service will be held on Friday, 11:00 AM with the Pastor, Rev. Richard Damey officiating. Burial will be in the Boxwood Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
