Larry George Story

Larry George Story, 82, of Meeker, Colorado, passed away on August 2nd, 2026. He was born on August 22, 1943, in Colbran, Colorado, to Arnold and Mildred Story. Larry was the third of four children and is survived by his two daughters, Stacy Griswold and Shawn Raes, and three siblings, Joe, Velvet, and Bill.

Larry worked the majority of his life in the oilfield and spent some years in the gold mines of Elko, Nevada. His last career was at Natural Soda, on Piceance Creek.

He moved from Piceance Creek, where he grew up, to Meeker during high school, where he met his high school sweetheart, Patsy French. They were married on July 6th, 1962.

Larry enjoyed spending his time outdoors - hunting, fishing (Browns Park), riding his side-by-side, hunting arrowheads, and camping. He also enjoyed watching the Broncos, Nuggets, and Rockies.

Leaves behind a loving family, including four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and his cat Boog. He will be greatly missed.

Graveside services for Larry will be held on Friday, August 14th, at 11:00 A.M. at Highland Cemetery in Meeker, Colorado.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Larry's memory to the Meeker Education Fund.
