Albert “Bubba” Benedetti, 63, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 after a long fight with COPD. Just like his stubborn personality, he lived many years longer than his original diagnosis.

He was born March 27, 1956 to Albert and Virginia Benedetti. He is survived by his wife Mary of 39 years, daughters Sarah (Matt) Hammond, Nikki (Dylan) Singler, son Bobby (Katye), sisters Pat (Bert) Fracchia, Debbie (Rocky) Martini, Teresa (John) Perschy, and two grandsons, Benjamin Hammond and Vincent Benedetti. Bubba was a loving husband, father, brother, and Nono.

Bubba was a tool and die maker that started his career in 1976 working for Scienco Products, Ingersoll Rand, Flowserve, and FarmChem. Over his career, he worked on many special projects including 3 that led to his name on patents. In his spare time, he was an avid outdoorsman and woodworker. He enjoyed time on the lake crappie fishing watching that cork go down or sitting in a deer stand chasing that big buck.

A gathering of friends and family for Albert will be held Friday, August 9, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119. Seeing the photos of Bubba in his ‘man cave’, the garage, reminded me of the many times that we spent there, sometimes alone but often with the other ‘family guys’ when we visited. Talk was of fishing or hunting, examining new tools or sporting goods but always with drink in hand. I wish I had thought of it sooner but would have been a great remembrance for the guys to have gathered there for us to have a farewell toast to our loved brother and friend.

Bubba and Karen hit the Casinos in Mississippi:
Bubba, Mary, Teresa and I all took a trip to Mississippi to gamble. I was excited; I'd never been in a Casino before. After I spent my "wad" on the nickel slots I was given the assignment to follow Bubba around and collect any winnings he had into another cup. We were doing alright, not great, and Bubba was down to his last quarter so I sat down around the corner to let him play it out. Suddenly his head pops around the corner and Bubba yells "Hey Karen! Come see this." Quarters were pouring out of the slot machine he had played. That's when we invented the Bubba and Karen booga-loo. I did my job, collected the money and he broke even.

I remember several years ago seeing Bubba at his sister Teresa's house and I was rather upset that I had just broken up with a boyfriend. And Bubba was a very good shoulder to cry on. He had told me that obviously my ex boyfriend was a fool and that I should continue being a smart and happy young woman and that I would find someone who deserved me.
I had only met Bubba once or twice before but he was willing to listen to me and show me love simply because he was a wonderful man. And I will always remember his kindness to someone he barely knew!
Bubba will be missed and always loved.
