
Born in Osceola, Arkansas on March 25, 1944 to Albert Davis Weems, Jr and Dorris Virginia Eikner Weems, A.D. was the youngest of two children. After the tragic death of their father in a house fire in 1949, Dorris moved the two children to Memphis where they grew up surrounded by extended family and friends.
A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in New York, Albert was an accomplished chef and worked for The Memphis Country Club. He enjoyed throwing dinner parties for occasions big and small. He later dabbled in real estate and ultimately retired after more than twenty years of service with the IRS.
Albert was a gifted pianist, who played for several Memphis establishments, as well as for friends and family. His many talents included gardening, landscaping, and interior design. He will be remembered for his animated storytelling, laughter, and love.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents and by his older sister, Virginia Lee “Ginger” Weems Bugg Fail Bishop. He is survived by his best friend Bill Vessels, his favorite niece and nephew, Dr. Franlynn Bugg of Milan, Illinois and George (Kay) Bugg of Huntsville, Alabama as well as his great-nephews William (MaryAnn) Bugg and his children, Elizabeth and James of Athens, Alabama and Steven (Sarah) Bugg and their children, Charles and Isabella of Parsburg, Germany and great-niece, Kaylyn (Austin) Corum and their daughter, Georgia of Hazel Green, Alabama.
