Alice was a loving, compassionate and giving woman. She was always attentive to the needs of others.
Her passion was cooking. She was known for her delicious meals, but a few of her well known favorites were her sweet potato pies, greens and hot water cornbread. She also had a passion for fashion which had her wearing the most stylish trends from nice church hats to beautiful suits.
She attended Walton Chapel Vocational High School in Sardis, MS. During this time, she would meet her sweetheart Calvin Fitzgerald. After graduation, they would marry and remain married for 60 years.
Alice and Calvin would leave their home state of Mississippi in 1960 and move to Evanston, IL where they would continue to grow their family. After moving to Indianapolis, IN, Alice would work in the dietary departments at Cold Spring Schools and Methodist Hospital as well as in the daycare at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. She would retire early to spend the remainder of her years as a homemaker caring for her family and others. It was her natural talent for cooking that would allow her the flexibility to serve her community and church as a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.
In 2004, Alice would leave Indianapolis to retire in Memphis, TN with Calvin where she would join Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church and serve as a mother of the church.
She transitioned on November 28, 2019 in Memphis. She was the rock of her family. She will be remembered for her delicious meals, cheerful spirit, sense of humor, her continuous wisdom and support, and most importantly her love for God and her family.
