Alma Frazier Pitner, 87, passed away on May 30, 2025. She was buried at Memorial Park Cemetery next to her son, Tommy Pitner, who passed away on October 1, 1992, at the age of 28. Alma was born on June 6, 1937 to Hallie and James Frazier of Belzoni. Alma was a standout basketball player at Belzoni High School and after graduating from Delta State Teacher’s College taught Physical Education and Coached in Shelby County Schools in Memphis. She continued her love of sports all her life, playing in many basketball, golf and tennis leagues after retiring and was named a Senior Olympic Basketball Player. She also founded the Pitner Driving School of Memphis. She is survived by her son Shannon Pitner (Becka) and grandson J.T. (Hannah) and great grandson Gabe.
