Amsey Grace Liebenow was born May 17, 2006 in Jackson, MS to Muffy Kelley Liebenow and Chip Liebenow. She was a sophomore at St. Mary’s Episcopal School, where she thrived as both an athlete and a scholar. Amsey’s life was taken way too soon September 12, 2021.
Amsey was an elected member of the St. Mary’s Honor Council. She ran cross-country, shot for the trap team, and swam competitively. Amsey played both the piano and the harp. She was an active member of Independent Presbyterian Church and numerous philanthropic organizations. Amsey firmly believed in giving her time to others and her community, all while maintaining above a 4.0 grade point average. She hoped to one day attend Carnegie Mellon or Harvard University. Amsey was a young lady of goals and dreams.
Amsey is preceded in death by her grandparents, Rod and Norma Kelley of Germantown, TN and Wally and Mary Liebenow of Starkville, MS. She leaves her mother, Muffy Kelley Liebenow, and brother, Watts Liebenow, of Germantown, TN, her father, Chip Liebenow, of Hallandale, FL, her aunt Erin Gennaro (Fred), and cousins, Reagan, Liberty, and Iggy Gennaro of Taylorsville, NC. Amsey Grace had a team of “Aunts” who adored her and numerous friends and family members who loved her immensely.
Family will receive visitors on Friday, September 17 from 11:00am-12:00pm at Independent Presbyterian Church with a memorial service to follow at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations are made in memory of Amsey Grace to the St. Mary’s Fund. Amsey will be forever in our hearts. We are greatly saddened not to see all the amazing ways this precious angel would’ve changed the world!
