

Amy Lois (Lake) Baker, 92, of Memphis, Tenn. went to be with Christ on the morning of October 1, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merritt Handlin Baker, in September 1984. She was born on November 20, 1923 in Springfield, Illinois to E. S. and Grace M. Lake. She was a member of New Hope (Raleigh) Christian Church since 1973, and was preciously loved by all that she knew within the church and was undeniably an integral part of the church family. She leaves behind her four children, Daniel John of Chatham, Ill., Alan Lake (Janice) of Millington, Tenn., Diane Gail (Michael) Panzer of Memphis, Tenn., and Mark Merritt (Cheri) of Brighton, Tenn. She leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom she dearly loved. The family invites friends to share remembrances of Mrs. Baker on Friday, October 7th from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave. in Memphis. There will also be a time to gather on Saturday, October 8 from nine o’clock until ten o’clock in the morning at New Hope Christian Church, 3300 Kirby-Whitten Road in Bartlett, Tenn. The funeral service will commence at ten o’clock in the morning at the church. The Right of Committal will follow, via an escorted cortege, at Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh-LaGrange Road in Memphis. Memorials may be sent to New Hope Christian Church in memory of Mrs. Amy L. Baker.
