Anita Owens Reed

Born on November 23, 1926, in Wheeler, Mississippi, Anita was the daughter of the late Grover and Jewell Owens. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Reed, Jr.; her parents; and her siblings, Jack Owens, Quteau Howton, and Hessie Olive.

Anita was a talented seamstress at a young age and was the owner of Anita's Custom Draperies for 17 years, where she was known for her craftsmanship and attention to detail. She was also a faithful member of Mullins Station Baptist Church for more than 20 years.

She is survived by her children, Tom Reed III, Eva Murphy, and Jack Reed (Angie); her grandchildren, Brent Murphy (Mariah), Brad Murphy (Natalie), Louren Reed, Owen Reed (Lisa), and Drew Reed (Jordan); and 17 cherished great-grandchildren.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at FirstLight Home Care for the compassionate care they provided to their mother, especially TT, Marie and Brittany, whose kindness, dedication, and loving support meant so much to Anita and her family.

Family will receive friends from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Thursday, July 9 at Family Funeral Care 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN. A graveside service will be at 1:00pm on Friday, July 10 at Booneville Cemetery in Booneville, Mississippi.
