ANNE M. FEARS, 89, of Memphis passed away peacefully at Baptist Hospital of natural causes on Saturday, April 17, 2010. She was in the cradle roll at the old Bellevue Baptist Church and was a 3rd generation member. She was married to Roy Fears for 62 years and they had one daughter, Jo Anne. She was pre-deceased by the passing of Roy and Jo Anne in the summer of 2006. Anne worked for the American Red Cross for approximately 30 years, retiring in the mid 80's. She leaves one sister, Elizabeth McCaughn of Memphis, brother-in-law, Buddy Fears and wife Pat of Atlanta, son-in-law, Van Jolly and several cousins in Georgia, Mary Will and Jim Long, Malcome Marchman and John Hartsfield. Anne was very active in the "Joy" Sunday School class at Bellevue for over 50 years. She also had a special talent for knitting. Jo Anne's wedding dress was knitted by Anne in 1992 when Jo and Van got married at Bellevue. Some time in the 1950's, when Dr. R.G. Lee was pastor at Bellevue, Dr. Lee said in one of his sermons that there will be no fears in HeavenAnne quickly corrected him by telling him that there will be many Fears in "Heaven" and now they are more Jolly than ever. Anne was a precious wife, mother, sister and as I used to tease her by saying she was my favorite mother-in-law. She will be missed, but she has joined Jesus, Jo Anne, Roy and some day soon, Elizabeth (Aunt Dudie) and Van. We will be ‘family again' and it will be for all of Eternity. The family will receive friends this evening, Monday, April 19 from 4-7 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home, Poplar Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 20 at the funeral home with entombment to follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, Anne would appreciate a donation to the American Red Cross or Love Worth Finding through Bellevue. Memphis Funeral Home (Published in The Commercial Appeal on April 19, 2010)
