She was the fourth of 11 children: Ben Ed Langston, Joseph Langston, Bobby Langston, Jackie Langston, Clarice and Clarence Langston, Betty Elizabeth Langston, Peggy Langston, Lucy Langston and Jimmy Langston.
Picking cotton and taking care of her siblings during her childhood gave her a close family relationship while also building lifelong friendships.
She left the family farm during high school and moved to the city of Memphis where she met and later married Clifford Ward Maclin, another child of a large family. She found a job where she would work at South Central Bell as a Long- Distance Telephone Operator for 30+ years and formed friendships which she maintained to enjoy during her retirement.
Annie & Ward were blessed with 3 sons, Jerry Maclin (Jane), Mike Maclin, Johnny Maclin (preceded her in death) and daughter, Risë Benson, that were the joy of their lives. While raising their family, cross-country road trips were among the enjoyable times shared. Annie liked baking cakes & pies to bless others in each decade of her life. She lived her testimony because she put Jesus 1st, demonstrating her faith by loving others each day of her life. Annie poured her heart into the lives of her family, especially her 7 grandchildren Jennifer Murphy (Chris), Jessica Bateman (Daniel), Joseph Benson, Jena Pope (Chad), Jason Maclin, Jessie Bramlett (Andrew) & Josie Maclin and 10 great-grandchildren Colby Murphy, Marley & Jack Bateman, Cora & Emery Pope, Morgan Maclin-lvarenga (Josh), Langston, Georgia Grace & Jake Maclin and Eliza Jane Bramlett by making them feel celebrated & loved every time she was around them. Her husband Ward preceded her in death.
Annie relished fellow Christians in her church family at Wells Station Baptist Church, listening to Bro. Danny and attending church functions as Young at Heart and Women’s Mission Union, as well as excursions with them to Branson, MO & Gatlinburg, TN. Her favorite Bible verse is 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 3 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM and funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning, May 4 at 10:00 AM, all at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN. Graveside committal services will immediately follow at Forest Hill East Cemetery.
