Arthur E. Pera, 96, lifelong Memphis resident, died on January 9, 2021 after a brief hospital stay.

Arthur was born September 11, 1924 to the late Nathan and Louise Pera. He served in the Air Force during World War II. After his discharge at the end of the war he continued his education at Memphis State University where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration.

Mr. Pera was in the retail liquor business for over 30 years until he was forced to retire due to the loss of his eye sight caused by macular degeneration.

Along with his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his brothers Nathan & Andrew Pera.

Mr. Pera is survived by his wife of 44 years Maureen Chatham Pera; son Lucian T. (Jane) Pera; daughter Kate Pera (Buddy Gaynor); stepsons Michael (Susan) Owen, Patrick (Patricia) Owen and Brian Owen; grandsons Gordon & Franklin Pera; granddaughter Ashlee Owen (Greg Bowers) and great-granddaughter Madelynn Bowers.

A private family service will be held at Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar Avenue with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 277 S. Fourth Street, Memphis, TN, 38126 or the charity of the donor's choice.
