I meet BarShay @ Southwest  in Microbiology and we were Lab partners...He called me his Lab Mom and I called him Son..He was always sweet respectful and willing to help wherever needed..Beautiful spirit and just naturally kind with a big Smile( although I believe he was kinda  shy)..I  ask him what did your mama get BarShay from and he explained 😊  We both laughed cause he must have gotten asked a lot... I do know one thing for sure is he loved his family..Mom Dad  Brother and  all..I am proud he obtained his Nursing Degree..The Nursing field  mourns this Loss as He was a needed  soul in the Field..Rest In Heaven  BarShay  aka Lab Son...

Our deepest condolences to Barshay's family...there are no words...I can only pray for God's unwavering comfort, love, and grace to be with you during this most unimaginable time from one parent to another. Know that your son is so very loved by many from the stories I've heard and he made a real difference, he touched the hearts of even strangers like me. I only talked with him 3 months this fall in his pursuit to launch his career in health care. I gave him homework after we had a healthy debate on current issues of choice and he followed up days later with his very thoughtful responses. I caught covid during this time so as I circled back to him again to confirm his next steps, he was already ahead of me. He was just a leader to make sure his path was set and even offered to help me however he could. I didn't get a chance to meet him in person as I had hoped one day; but invited him to our Just HEAL Bro event and connected him with some other students I admired.  With only 2-3 conversations on hours at length and a few emails, I realized he was special. I even told my family and others about him. He was very intelligent, passionate about his future and the opportunity to serve others.  He talked about his barbering, his mom barbering also I think, why he chose nursing and I thought WOW, these parents have really raised quite an impressive young man who has his head on straight; they must be so very proud of him!! Someone mentioned how courteous and well mannered; always yes ma'am and no ma'am. He embodied all that we hope for our young black men and he absolutely shifted the narrative of what society wants us to believe of our sons. I was looking forward to congratulating him upon graduation and I'm sure no one more than his family. While this is most tragic, unwarranted, just senseless, I am reminded that we all come to each other for a reason, season and/or lifetime. Barshay truly made a lifetime impression. Prayers are with you all at this time and always...

I remember my cousin coming over and staying at my granny’s house and me and my family of four coming over to play games with him and his brother. Both so smart and able to catch on to everything so fast. I remember playing guesstures with him and he was on my team and my word was “ spider” and I began doing the signs for the itsy bitsy spider and he had no clue what I was doing lol. I remember after that telling him about it and he had no clue. We ended up losing that game but I just remember being happy that I had cousins in town that would stay over and play games with us. That’s my last memory with him. My family traveled to Memphis recently and I couldn’t go because I had a newborn. I regret it because my family had a blast and I could’ve spent more time with him. I would always refer to him as my big little cousin … he was such a gentle giant. I miss him but I know it doesn’t compare to the pain of his parents and brother. We all have such fond memories and I hate this happened but he is resting now and he’s watching us right now as we celebrate his life. A beautiful and gentle soul gone too soon. He didn’t deserve this but I will make sure I live my life as happy as he was. It hurts because I don’t know if he remembers me the way I remember him… I wish I could tell him how much he meant to me. Until I meet him on the other side, I love him and I miss him. We love you Barshay.

I was one of Barshay’s Principals at John P. Feeeman Optional School. Barshay was an intelligent, hardworking, and respectful young man.  He was well focused in the classroom and on the football field.  He had high standards for himself and others. He was loved by his teammates, classmates, and teachers.  This is a great reflection of the love and strong upbringing from his parents. My condolences to the Wilson Family. I pray that God grant you  strength and peace.  ❤️

The day I found out my cousin was missing I was hurt… never in my life would I think a close relative of mines would go missing but I tried to stay positive… I shedded a couple tears because it was hard not knowing if my Big cousin was coming home or not… but I stayed strong… but then the day came… I was just telling my dad that I haven’t seen my cousin in a year and I did not want the first time I see him in a minute to be a casket but unfortunately life ain’t always sunshine and flowers… Im sitting there streaming and trying to distract myself… but then my dad sent that text and then I got the call… 💔 From there my heart broke from 8 am in the morning until 1:00 pm I was crying because my cousin was murdered… I hoped and prayed this wouldn’t be the answer… but MY COUSIN in a better place with God… and really what hurts me the most about this whole situation is that he was just finna graduate and my last memory with my cousin was July 4th, 2021… Who would of thought it would be my last… I remember going to they football games and playing in the basement and etc… but it’s alright Justice will be served… I love you big cousin 💙 And For you imma graduate… I already wanted to leave Memphis but after the death of my cousin I definitely got to go… Y’all spend time with y’all family 💯 You never know when you or them will breath the last breath ✝️ Rest Easy Big Cousin 🕊️

Barshay was one of the best football players I have ever coached at John P. Freeman. A gentle giant is what I called him. It was always (yes, sir and no, sir). Never any disrespectfulness. Always polite. An indication of his upbringing by his mother and father!! Barshay, I will miss you and always REMEMBER you!! Prayers and condolences to Mr. and Mrs. Wilson and the Wilson family.
