Bessie Irene Phillips, 93, of Hernando passed away January 1, 2014. Mrs. Phillips was a member of Colonial Hills United Methodist Church. She retired from General Foods Corporation where she worked as an administrative assistant. Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, Truman Phillips. She is survived by her son, Allen Ray Phillips and his wife, Karen; granddaughters Angela Phillips, Janet Bunch, and Stefanie Rowland; great-grandchildren Sarah Bunch, Ashley Rowland, Tyler Rowland, and Hunter Rowland; and great great-grandson Brayden Rowland. The family will receive friends from 12 pm until service time of 1 pm on Friday January 3, 2014 all at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens at 5599 Poplar Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
