Betsy was born on September 27, 1933 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to the late Robert & Margaret Kissel. She went to East High School in Green Bay and graduated from Carlton College in North Field, Minnesota with a degree in Chemistry.
She moved to Memphis in 1955 when she got a job as a research assistant at Buckeye Cotton Oil Co. She met John Reeder working at the Memphis Little Theater and they were married in 1958.
Mostly a homemaker, Betsy stayed very active volunteering for several Memphis area organizations some of which include the 1st Congregational Church, Theatre Memphis and Stage Set, P.E.O., the Women's Exchange Club, M.I.F.A. and the Girl Scouts.
Along with her parents Ms. Reeder was preceded in death by her husband John of 46 years; brothers Robert Kissel, Jr. & William Kissel.
She is survived today by her daughter Missy (Bob Mychajluk) Reeder of Memphis and son Jay (Debbie) Reeder also of Memphis; two grandchildren John (Leanna) Reeder and Nikki (Brandon) Moore; two great-grandchildren Connor & Patrick Moore.
A private family service will be held in Betsy's honor. A public service may be planned at a later date.
