Betty Bennett Edwards, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, went home to be with the Lord on November 5, 2025, at the age of 81. She was born on July 7, 1944, to Jack and Mary Frances Bennett, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her devoted husband, Larry Edwards.
Betty’s life was marked by faith, kindness, and love for her family. She is survived by her children, Fran Parker and Bill (Mary Beth) Edwards; her cherished grandchildren, Hayley (Zach) Tucker, Bennett Edwards, and Ella Griffin Edwards; her precious great-grandchildren, KJ and Charlie and her sister Barbara Lakey.
A gentle and sweet spirit, Betty’s warmth touched everyone who knew her. She had a steadfast love for Jesus and loved her community at Riveroaks Reformed Presbyterian Church, where she found great joy in singing in the church choir and in the relationships formed there. Her friends held a special place in her heart, offering years of shared prayer, laughter, and love.
Being the daughter of a coach, she developed a love for sports that followed her throughout her life. She could be found in the stands cheering on her husband, children, grandchildren and the Memphis Tigers.
She faced the challenges of Dementia for the past 8 years, and her family is deeply grateful to the staff at the Heritage at Irene Woods for their compassionate care.
Betty’s legacy of faith, love, and kindness will continue to live on through her family and all those blessed to have known her. While we grieve her loss deeply, we do not grieve as those without hope. “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4
The celebration of Betty’s life will take place on Monday, November 10th at Riveroaks Reformed Presbyterian Church. 1665 S. Germantown Road, Germantown, TN 38138. Visitation 9:00-10:30 am and the funeral service at 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Betty’s memory to Evangelical Christian School.
“But let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.” 1 Peter 3:4
