Betty was born on August 30, 1951, in Memphis, Tennessee, one of three children born to the late Jessie Buck & Norma Maxine Watkins.
She was a church secretary at Temple Baptist Church and Union Avenue Baptist Church for over a combined 35 years. She served her family and church well all of her life.
She met and married Harry Albert Hicks at Temple Baptist Church. They were on the bowling league together there.
Along with her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brother Mark Watkins.
Betty's memory lives on through her daughter, Stephanie Duncan; sons Shawn & Dwayne Hicks; brother Tommy (Jayne) Watkins; granddaughters Lindsey (Ben) Phillips and Lexie Hicks; grandsons Tyler Hicks and Darin Hicks, her precious baby Zoey; and numerous extended family, friends and church family who will miss her.
Family and friends will gather on Friday, September 25 from one o'clock until funeral services begin at two o'clock, all at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38122. In lieu of burial, family and friends will continue to share memories and stories at a reception, in the funeral home, following the conclusion of the funeral service.
Betty will be laid to rest at the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery with her husband Harry Hicks.
