Betty Mitchell

Betty K. Mitchell was born July 10, 1945, and passed away peacefully March 24, 2014 at Baptist Memorial Hospital, after a year long battle with cancer. She was blessed to be supported by family and numerous friends during her illness. Mrs. Mitchell was born in Memphis Tennessee to John and Hazel Krotzer. She graduated from Treadwell High School and attended Memphis State University. Her love of Jesus and family were an inspiration to all that met her. Hers was a life well lived. She leaves her husband of 47 years Sam Mitchell, a daughter Betsy Horton, two grandchildren, Margaret Love Horton, and John Mitchell Horton; a sister, Lisa Brown and brother, John Krotzer Jr. five nieces and four nephews, all of Memphis. Mrs. Mitchell was the administrative assistant to the CFO at Mid-American Baptist Theological Seminary Betty was a member of First Baptist Collierville where she was active in her Bible Study Fellowship class. Previously she was a long time member of Bellevue Baptist Church. Mrs. Mitchell was also a leader in Bible Study Fellowship for 20 years. The visitation will be Thursday March 27, at 12 p.m., with service following at 1 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue.
