Betty Jo South

Betty Jo South, 87, of Memphis, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018. Mrs. South was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Alfred “Bill” South; and her son, Michael David South; her parents, George and Louise Bush of Hickman, KY.; her sister, Roena Chaney; and brother, George Donas Bush. Mrs. South is survived by her two sons, Daniel Ray South (Diana) of Richmond Hill, GA and George Stephen South (Vicki) of Memphis, TN; her brother-in-law, Ray South (Lola) of Iuka, MS; seven grand-children; 8 great grandchildren; and Karen Quinton. Mrs. South was a wife, mother, and homemaker for 60 years, and loved to travel. Mrs. South was a long standing and faithful member of Leawood Baptist Church; she leaves behind many loving family members and friends. The family requests that memorials be sent to Leawood Baptist Church, 3638 Macon Rd., Memphis, TN 38122 or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Visitation services will be Monday, August 13th at Family Funeral Care, Summer Ave., from 9 am to 10 am, with funeral service to begin at 10 am. Burial will follow in Memphis Memory Gardens.
