October 6, 1936 - October 4, 2021
The world lost a beloved mother, Betty Sprague on October 4, 2021. Betty was born in Faulkner, Mississippi before moving to Memphis. She attended Treadwell High School where she was a skilled volleyball player and also the place she met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Bobby.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Robert Sprague, her parents John Henry and Mattie Mae Moore. She leaves behind her 3 children, Judy Stott (Dennis), Janice Cook (Hal) and Robbie Sprague (Susan). She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren, Brittany, Brandon, Corey and Beau, along with her 5 great grandchildren, Peyton, Landon, Ainsley, Lane and Ledger.
Betty was a stay-at-home Mom, keeping busy with her family, carpooling, school and sporting events, along with keeping the house, clothes and family clean and fed each day, Her entire world revolved around her family and she was loved for everything she did.
When her sweet Bobby had serious health issues, she stayed at his side nursing him back to a stable condition, when she obtained a management position, outside the home, at Sears in the maintenance agreement area until she retired.
Until her own health reasons, she has been a devoted member of Ellendale Baptist Church, where she attended both worship services and Sunday School. Her devoted Ellendale friends have continued to support Betty through calls, visits and prayer.
Betty's life revolved around her family and she always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family and friends. Betty loved the Lord and loved entertaining her family, traveling with her sweetheart and taking care of anyone that needed her help and love. She was always smiling, kind and never met a stranger. Betty loved and lived every moment she was given through her family, friends and the Lord. No one could take her away from who she was, always nice, thoughtful, graceful and beautiful from the inside out, until the Lord called her home.
We can all carry on her legacy by making the people around us feel special and very loved. She would want everyone to know how much she cared and loved each of you for the difference you have made in her life. She loved you all.
There will be a gathering of family and friends on Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 8:30-10:00am with a funeral service to immediately follow at 10:00am all at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave., Memphis, TN 38122. A private burial will take place at a later time.
