Bobby Ray Hammons

He was born in Saulsbury, Tennessee, to Horace Bunyan and Velma Maddox Hammons on January 13, 1936. Bobby had four brothers and two sisters: Cecil Redden Hammons, Bernice Hammons Creech, Horace Bunyan Hammons, Jr., Joseph Lewis Hammons, Mary Hammons Moore, and Ronnie Laverne Hammons, all of which preceded him in death.

Bobby married Nadine Eastin on October 4, 1984. They had 34 great years together before she passed away on August 4, 2019. Bobby and Nadine shared a great love of music. They both were accomplished pianists. They did not have any children.

Bobby graduated from Humes High School in Memphis, Tennessee in 1955. He began his college education right after high school and graduated from Memphis State University in 1959 with a Bachelors of Business Administration degree in Accounting (BBA). He later became a CPA and was employed as such with different firms.

Bobby was also a military veteran. He served as a personnel specialist in the Air Force from 1959 - 1963. He was also a longtime member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee.

Bobby leaves many nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Family and friends will gather on Thursday, August 6 from one o'clock in the afternoon until services begin at two o'clock all in the Berclair Suite at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38122. Bobby will be buried in Memphis Memory Gardens Cemetery with his parents.
