Dr. Jones was a beloved member of our community, having taught in the Department of Biology at Rhodes College, Memphis, TN, for 31 years before his retirement in 2001. Throughout his career, Bobby was a dedicated educator and mentor who inspired generations of students through his passion for Genetics, a course he taught faithfully every year until his retirement.
After retirement Bobby put his intellect and energy into volunteering at the Memphis Botanic Garden, the Friends of Germantown Library and was active in his church. Bobby had a lifelong love of gardening and when he mastered one skill he would move on to the next challenge.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Ann (Stewart) Jones, her extended family, and by many friends, colleagues, and former students who will miss him deeply. His legacy of curiosity, kindness, and dedication to science and education will continue to inspire us.
A celebration of life gathering for Bobby will be held Sunday, November 9, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119.
A memorial service will be held Monday, November 10, 2025 at 10:00 AM in the chapel at Harvest Church, 3645 Forest Hill Irene Road, Germantown, TN 38138.
