Bob L. Woody, 88, Of Memphis Tennessee went home to be with his Lord, family and friends early Saturday morning November 21, 2020. Bob was born June 8, 1932 in Bird, Arkansas to Eva Halloway Woody and Edward James Woody. He was preceded in death by both his parents, his sister Sue, brother Mack Woody and his beloved dog Gretel.
Bob is survived by his wife, Doris McDaniels Woody; his brothers, Uyless Woody (Norma), Don Woody (Gayle); his sisters, Wanda Williams (Leon), and Pat Fix; his 3 children, Bob Woody (Jodi), Debbie Huffman, Bill Woody (Patti) all of Lakeland, Tn. In addition, he has 10 Grandchildren - Nickolas (Liz), Keith, Ashlee (Henry), Samantha (Jame), Sydney (Hunter), Zackary (Kaylla), Taylor (Hunter), Matthew, Kaitlyn, Michael and 7 Great-grandchildren, Andi, Keith, Lanie, Graham, Elle, Emma and Ensley. Last but not least, he also was blessed with 24 Grand “fur babies”.
Bob was a lifelong member of the church including Park Avenue Baptist, Audubon Park Baptist,and Central Church, all in Memphis where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Bob worked hard most of his life. He graduated as Valedictorian of Mountain View High School. After marriage, he moved to Stuttgart, AR where he worked for Riceland Foods. In 1954, Bob moved his family to Memphis, TN to work for Robinson McCallum (RoMac) as a bookkeeper while he went to school at night. He worked for RoMac/Gant Ind. for over 30 years where he was eventually the President and General Manager. In the early 80’s, Bob went into Real Estate where he worked for Crye-Lieke until his retirement.
Bob’s passions included hunting, fishing, and camping at the lake. He was a master of all, which allowed him to pass on his knowledge and passion to his kids and grandkids. Bob also shared his passion of boats and water skiing with anyone who was willing to try. Over the years, he taught hundreds to water ski. In fact, one weekend with the youth group from Park Ave he taught 23 kids to ski. His kids, grandkids and even his great grandkids continue to this day to have a love for hunting, fishing, and water sports all thanks to him.
Due to Covid - 19, there will be a graveside service for immediate family at Memorial Gardens on Germantown Parkway Thursday December 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Family Funeral Care of Memphis.
