I am missing you like crazy. Nothing is the same since you’ve  been gone. I wish you were here to work things out as only you could. I know you are looking down on your sister and I and will petition God to fill the void and get things in line. I love and miss you and Thank you for 50 years 5 months and 3 weeks of great memories 

I send my love to the Carlos family and all who knew him. Wow, what a guy. I had not seen him in years since he left AA. However I think my first encounter with Carlos was years ago. He had some watches for sale. I think I brought one. Not sure but I admired his entrepreneurial spirit. It was not surprise when I heard he left AA. He was way ahead of the game. I’m still shocked you’re gone. Ill never forget your silly giggle and those classic phrases and my favorite one you’d say with that wry smile, "You know what I’m sayin?" 

I met Carlos when I was training C.J. For football performance, the man had a heart for his son and others. He was very motivating to be around and always shows everyone the utmost respect. I can tell you that Carlos loved his family more than anything, I have very many fond memories of him and the man could make anyone laugh, his smile and laugh were infectious. My prayers go out to the family and personally C.J. As I would call you way back, love you man and always will love and respect your father for being such a great role model. 


You got a one way ticket to the promise land I'll see you there. I told you once I'm telling you again I love you Brother i love you now that's three times.

Where do I begin.... Carlos was such a gentle giant when it came to his mom and sister he was there protector. My condolences to the hicks family who has been apart of my family for years!!!! I can hear April now saying to him what you doing here.  Well he has a singing bird up there with him.... love you Belinda and sheree

I am still so stunned & saddened by Carlos's untimely passing.  His commitment to detail, excellence, & performance made a profound impression on me as did his absolutely sterling character.  Such a personable friendly man!! I suppose our loss is Heaven's gain.  The stars shine brighter with him among them.   My greatest condolences to all who knew & loved him.  A great man who has left a great legacy.  "Sunt lacrimae rerum et mortalia tangunt mentem"

This was hard for me to write 30+ years of a friendship you became my brother!! I will never forget the trips or the moments we hung out had lunch and talked about our life goals. You wasn’t scared to roll the dice on life and you hit a 7!! And there was no looking back for you !! All your ideas became a reality and I was so proud of your accomplishments. Los I’m going to miss the late night conversations (yeah bro you was long winded!! lol) but what I would give to have those moments back. I’ve pondered with writing this because I’m still truly at a loss for words! I must say by far you are one of the most charming and intelligent men that I’ve known, the father of my firstborn son and the grandfather of my first grandchild. Carlos you will be missed so much, I will definitely miss our long conversations about any and everything. May you rest peacefully in the loving arms of our God And our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ until we meet again my friend.

 When Carlos moved to  Texas  I was so excited.  Finally I had a close family member living near me. I loved him deeply.  His beautiful spirit and compassion for others was amazing.. so thankful. Rest in peace baby boy you will forever be in my heart ❤

I remember when you took Sade, me, & our friends to the mall and you cracked jokes the ENTIRE ride there and back. Ha! I remember laughing so hard I started crying. At that time, I really needed that laugh.

Within 5yrs of finally meeting you,  we’ve created so many memories. From the jokes of the DNA test to the calls from you checking on me or even advice!  My fondest memory of You will always be the first time we met! You looked at me and told me I was your child then the way you laughed at everything and your sense of humor I knew then as well you were my father. Time was of the essence but the time we shared will ALWAYS BE CHERISHED! And I thankful for EVER HAVING YOU APART OF MY LIFE🖤

Carlos Hicks was like a son to me.  I'll never forget him telling me I was his second mom.  I believe it was because,  I'm beautiful like his mother, and we both share the same names, {Belinda}.  Carlos was the coolest, charming, very respectful, gentle, kindhearted, handsome guy you could ever meet.  He had a million dollar smile!  As long as I've known him, he never got out of character.  To know him was to love him.  My life was truly touched by an angel.  The world's lost and Heaven's gain!   

Carlos, it is still hard to believe that you are gone. When you were young your grandmother told you to use your head for more than a hat rack and that is what you did. You were constantly thinking of ways to better yourself and didn't mind passing your knowledge on to help others to better themselves. As far as you were concerned the ladder of success  was never ending and you were constantly climbing that ladder. Mom said while everybody else was sleeping you were awake thinking of ways to climb the next rung on that ladder of success. 

I remember when you were younger and you would spend your summers with us in Olive Branch. We looked forward to those days. Even though you never learned to ride that horse you never gave up trying and that was your moto. "Never give up." Your cousins Pookie, Bot and Corrin were so proud to have their big cousin staying with them. They hung to every word you said. You set a good example for them to follow.
 
You will be sorely missed.

What can I say about sure a wonderful and giving person.
He was always willing to help with his knowledge to help.
I will never forgot what you told me.
You had the best Laugh. Just like Uncle Lonnie.

The Hicks and Gilmore families started out as friends but almost immediately became family. God has chosen another Angel and  Carlos it's you. Carlos your beautiful smile and personality will truely be missed. I loved your spirit because you never met a stranger and you made everyone who came in contact with you feel special. That's a gift. Your mom and I share a sisterhood for life.  I promise we will keep her lifted up and encouraged because we know she lost her first love. I know you knew this but she loved you to the moon and back. Gone way too soon. Take your rest as God has said well done my son well done.

Carlos Hicks man you were a great dude man! I have tears in my eyes because you were sooooo genuine and your heart ♥️.  One things for sure, heaven has gained a real one! 

I remember when I first moved here to Texas  from New Jersey I didn’t know anyone and  you came into my boutique smiling and ready to help see a sister grow... 

We later started doing business! I came across a post that you made and it really brought some major tears to my eyes,  because you saw the best in me. We paved the trenches made some money! 

Then you introduced me to your beautiful sister Sheree who immediately became my twin flame! Even your  mother became my family from afar never met them but til today I call them my family! And you my handsome brother from another mother I know you will make a lot of angels smile and laugh and I hope you read this..♥️

What I am feeling now is hard to put into words.  I have known you since you were about three years old.  Your mother and I became close friends when my family moved to Whitehaven in 1972 and we are best friends to this day.  I was happy when you moved back to the south and welcomed everyone to your beautiful home in Olive Branch for birthday parties, 4th of July and just family gatherings.  I was not your biological aunt but that’s what you called me and I felt that I was.  You were a hardworking, giving, compassionate young man.  Your life was a blessing to so many, your memory a treasure.  You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure❤️

Ive been at a loss for words on what to say, but today 2 simple words came to mind that I wish I could say to you one last time.. thank you. Thank you for loving me as your own daughter and going out of your way to build a relationship with me and Darrell. Thank you for always giving us the most genuine advice and sharing all of your wisdom with us. Thank you for welcoming us with open arms each and every time we came to you and my mothers home. Thank you for always making us laugh constantly every time we had a conversation.. we had alot of those lol. Lastly,  thank you for loving my mother and taking care of her like noone has ever done before. Your love for her was the foundation of our relationship and im forever thankful that we all got to experience having someone like you in our lives. I will love and take care of her now so you can finally rest. You may be gone but you will never be forgotten and I will carry the wisdom you gifted me with for the rest of my life. See you on the other side Carlos and I hope we can share one good laugh again someday❤️

Carlos, I never thought I would be writing a memory of you, but here you go.  I remember meeting you and Mike at the Playhouse in Forest Park, Illinois. You guys were doing one of the things you do best—dancing. Ever since then, we were connected. You proved yourself to be a true friend. Rest up, my friend and fly high as I know you will. First, let me say that I loved Carlos.  Truely. He almost always made me smile.  Whether I was talking to him directly or through his mom, he made me smile. Carlos & I bonded over our love of  bowling. Yeah, he beat me every time we rolled but it was the journey to defeat that was most memorable.  He was gracious & a gentleman. I will truely miss you young man.

...and then there is one,  Two of my favorite men,  Carlos (Suga Bear) and Phillip (Mo’ Bedda,). When you retired from freight  that was an adjustment, I knew I I’d miss the times the three of us would hang out in the building. Our time went by so fast with laughter, talking about our grandmothers, mothers and children,  all while encouraging each other.  We talked about insurance and getting our affairs in order.  We listened to a speech, well not just one but many by mo bedda-“AHHHHHH-MANNN!”  Meeting the family at a football game, whateva it was, it was a simple pleasure.   Special thanks to your grandma, mother, CJ, Sade, and beloved Fiancée for sharing such a huge wonderful spirit.  There are so  many precious memories that will forever flood my soul. 

I just got a call from a friend who shared a memory of Carlos and Sheree in a dance contest. He was the kind of dancer that made others back up from the dance floor and let him have it. He did a split in the contest and Sheree had no choice but to do the same to not be outdone and there they were down on the floor looking crazy (my kids). We also called Carlos “McGyver” because he could fix, rig up or put anything together No instructions needed.  There were so many sides to Carlos!  PS - I’m still wearing the dress that you told me was too short for a mama lol

I have known Sheree since high school and though I didn’t know Carlos personally, it was easy to see that he was a man of honor whom she held in high esteem. It was also easy to see that he loved his baby sister and his family with all he had!! My most sincere condolences are passed on to Sheree, her beautiful daughters, and Momma Hicks!!! ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

I am Carlos' only aunt on his father's side of the family. I was very young when he was born, in fact, I believe I was still playing with dolls. With that being said, I never got to meet Carlos when he was a little boy or to interact with him. He probably could have been like a live baby doll for me. However, our paths crossed 15 years ago. He moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area and I lived there also. He came to visit us one day and I knew right away that he he was a considerate person. He asked for a towel to sit on so that his jeans would not bleed color onto my off-white sofa. I've never had anyone to be so considerate of someone else's possessions. Based on the memories that I've been reading from others,  that's just like Carlos. Belinda, based on just that one visit with Carlos I could tell that he was truly raised to be a wonderful young man. You instilled in him important values and to be considerate of others. Thank you for that. I do wish that I had the opportunity to interact with Carlos more. Carlos was valuable to all of us here on Earth. But, he is now invaluable and the angel who will always watch over everyone who loved him. Belinda and family, we will pray for you but just know that prayers have already been answered because Carlos is in such a wonderful wonderful place and where we all want to go...HEAVEN. Sheree, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your  family during this very difficult time.  I am so sad that I’m not able to be with you guys,  but please know that you’re in my heart and on my mind.  I’m so sorry for this tragic loss. I know how much you loved your brother. Carlos you were my most admired cousin, you advised me on quite  a few of your business adventures which were very prosperous in many ways for me. I will miss the fun times we had when you were around and most recently this past 4th of July, what a joyous time we had. Rest on Carlos❤️❤️❤️

Hey Big Bro.  I have been sitting for days just replaying our last moments together. I remember thinking how proud I was to be your little sister.  And you told me how proud you were to be my big bro. Thank you for being such a great example of a man. Thank you for reminding me that in life we should alway allow ourselves to laugh, love, and work hard in order to reach our goals. I’m going to miss you. Just know that I love you and that you will never be forgotten.

I met Carlos in the summer before 9th grade we were 14 years old at the time and saw he was a very down to earth brother I was a very shy kid back then and he use to put me on front street with the girls to get that shyness out of me and was a very funny and charasmatic dude yes indeed the girls loved Carlos but he never let his head blow up off of that because of his popularity he still treated others with respect and humbleness and would have your back if something went down he loved his mother and his sister and kids very much when we spoke to each other about three weeks ago I so regret that I didn't get a chance to see him when I was out in Memphis working . Carlos you are truly going to be missed my brother but knowing you now are watching all of us is the only thing that's cheering me up remember I owe you that T slick dance that I use to do for you all especially Slab tell everyone up there I said hello until we meet again my freind Rest In Paradise

We meet Carlos and Tamara a little over a year ago, a awesome and very energetic couple.  Carlos and Ronald always shared ideas on how to beautify their homes, yards and patios.  We will always remember Carlos’s smile and genuine concern for people.  Not only did he love his family, Carlos loved people.  Carlos was more like a brother to us, in fact we called him our brother.  Carlos was a man with a big smile, big heart, a man of standard and integrity. We love you Carlos and we thank God for allowing you to be a part of our lives no matter how long or short the time was. “Rest in Peace”.

Carlos was such a nice and wonderful person. I met him at Steinmetz High School. He was so cool, popular, and very handsome. He just had a good way about him. I’m glad I got to meet you Carlos. Rest In Peace. I want to give my condolences to his entire family. 

Carlos was one of the nicest , suave guys in High School! Always cool , respectful and the girls loved him. We had a lot of laughs in the halls of Steinmetz High School. I’m sure he remained the same guy throughout his adulthood, may he dwell in eternal peace . Farewell streak brother

I was so overjoyed when you decided to move back home. We would just make reasons to get together. Everybody brought a dish and you brought a karaoke machine.We was under my carport disturbing the peace with our bad sing .None of us could sing but we tried. That was a fun day. I wasn’t around Carlos a lot but I have been blessed to be in his presence on occasions.  He was such a gentleman and a sweetheart. From your mom I knew about the love and encouragement you had and gave to your family. All I can say is that I love you from the bottom of my heart and I always will. From the first time we meet I knew you were a great person, then the more we hung out I knew you were the perfect man for me. Carlos I’ve always loved you like a brother since we met in high school. Just a cool, respectful man. Then it was so crazy & coincidental when you  moved in the same suburb as me in North Richland Hills, TX some 20+ years later.  What are the chances of two high school classmates/friends from Chicago living in the same suburb in a state 1000 miles away?   I remember we talked about our kiddos. More like bragged about them often. We both happen to have sons named CJ. Your CJ was playing football at Trinity when you were living in NRH (If I recall correctly). You’ve always been a go getter and wise beyond your years. I remember when you were  selling sheets at one point with a high  thread count. I made sure you put a few aside for me. The best sheets ever. You came to our Halloween parties we had at our home dressed in the coolest costume...so much fun. My last Facebook conversation was the Ice Cube post lol. I began it by saying  “I love you like a brother” and ended it the same. We both are debaters, so I didn’t know who would give in first lol. We agreed to disagree. 
You will be missed greatly. This hurts but I can only imagine how much pain  your family & loved ones are in.   Prayers & strength to Mrs. Hicks, Sheree,  your kiddos, and entire family. To a wonderful cousin I had an opportunity to finally meet in person in Dallas, TX. A passionate person when it comes to his vocation and hobbies. One that loves helping people, having fun, and living life to the fullest. Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal.

Larry and I met Carlos when he purchased our former home.  His energy was infectious and we all instantly clicked.  I'm so happy to have had this chance encounter and the many conversations thereafter he shared with my husband.  I pray that the family finds peace with God's decision.. I know it's difficult to begin to understand at this point. 
 Carlos was a good genuine guy and we are blessed to have met him.

Wow Carlos! Unbelievable! Let me snap out of it and let the world know how amazing you were to me. We were so excited to bring you home as a baby. You had four doting mamas. Me, Eve, Janice and Connie. We never put you down or allowed you to cry. When one mama held you and the other wanted to get a turn. They would have to promise to give you back. You were loved and spoiled rotten. But you grew up out of it and became a man really fast who impacted so many lives. You never disappointed me or made me ashamed to say you were my boy. The whole family could depend on you to make things happen for us! What are we going to do without you?  I will just ask myself what would Carlos do and move on. I am the mom but you taught me so much! I trusted you in many aspects of my life because you were A researcher and I reaped the benefits of your research. I know you are alright. Once the angels check you in you will start meeting people and making them laugh! Take your well deserved rest son! You were amazing on this side. Go on and charm them in the afterlife. Pops. Man. You left me too soon. There were so many things I hadn’t shared with you, so many things we had not gotten a chance to do together. But I cherish all the memories we created. There was so much I was set to do that you will never physically be there to see. But I won’t let this stop me. I know you will be walking with me and watching over for the rest of my days. You always told me growing up, “Don’t be average”, I never have, but now I have to be excellent. You touched a lot of people during your time down here and left me with some big shoes to fill, but you have also prepared me for this and for life after you, my entire life, and I thank you with all my heart for giving me what I have today. Like you always told me “son, you are my rib”, I am still your “rib” and losing you I feel like I lost a half rack of my own ribs lol. I want to thank you for being a wonderful father to me, even to all my homies who needed it. I want to thank you for leading me in a positive direction and making me view the world with an open mind, teaching me about life and how to be a MAN for myself and for my family. No one is perfect by any means but you genuinely wanted what was best for me and never set me up for failure so I owe you success. It’s crazy seeing all the love and support that I am receiving just because people loved and appreciated you so much. I miss the days when I was younger I would score a touchdown and look into the stands just to see if you were happy lol . You touched the lives of so many people, in so many ways and we all thank you. I promise you I will finish what we started dad and will never disappoint you . I promise to get all of my siblings back together like you wanted . We just ran out of time to make things right with you but we still have time to make things right with eachother and pass on your memories with our children. Be smooth up there dad, you won’t be forgotten.

I started  with Carlos at American airlines. He was never in a bad mood and always had a smile on his face. Carlos left Chicago for Miami a few years before myself. When I landed in Miami international airport the first person waiting for me was Carlos. I’m not even sure what to say cousin. I just wish we would have seen each other again. I’ve grown up cousin. I remember when I was little you would always call and come see my mom. You guys had a close relationship too. Each birthday you would give me $100(that was a lot of money back then😂) and you would tell me I’m a princess and I deserved it! I thought that was so cool being that no other kid had that type of money. You added to me always feeling like I was royalty or something. That’s so important for black little girls growing up. You’ve always made me feel like I was special and it has always stuck with me cousin. Thank you for being a great cousin to my mother and a supportive cousin for us both. All I have is this memory and lots of stories told to me by my mother and father. I’ll make sure to be of the same support for your boys! That’s a promise. Have a safe transition from this life to the next. You will never be forgotten!!

I met Carlos in 2017 in Wyoming on a large pipeline project . Carlos and I became tight friends over the next 3 years. Carlos had the ability to make friends and keep them laughing, he was my best agent and dear friend and I will miss our long conversations. He loved his family and Ty with all his heart.

I started with Los in October of 1989 at American Airlines..Was from day one a great man..To Young to pass away..im so sorry to his family

I remember going to prom senior year and riding with cj. Mr. Hicks had rented a convertible for us to pull up in style. That’s one of the few memories I have with Mr.hicks but one that I always cherished because as I get older those memories of senior prom , or Friday night football are the most nostalgic and Mr. Hicks made the night that much better for us just by renting a car for us to flex in.  I always appreciated him for that because I think it said a lot about the type of man he was.... Rest In Peace pop! 

The Hicks family has been my extended family for close to 30 years. The Leaks family sends our condolences to you all. We love you and are here for you always.

I met Belinda in 1979 when Carlos was 9, and he was already working a paper route & trying to sign me up. Guess I should say, he talked me into signing up.  I knew then that he was gonna be an enterprising young man, because even then, he was all about the Benjamins. His smile and his good natured disposition worked to make him successful in everything he ventured into, and he will truly be missed.

Never would have thought I would be writing on this page for my brother/friend. It  still seems unreal. Rest on little bro. A true friendship formed at “Hello” I’m still speechless. My friend you were truly a beautiful person that life impacted many. Rest well my brother till we meet again. 

Although Carlos grew up in Chicago, it was nothing but love whenever he visited Memphis.  He was always  a giving person with a wonderful and kind heart. 

I am fortunate to have been given the opportunity to (very recently) reconnect with my childhood bud.  Aside from growing and maturing from young boys in to men, it was like we had never been apart.  

I am truly blessed to have known and loved him.
